In the fallout of the election, some people are still failing to see what is right in front of their faces.
I’m seeing some terrible takes – but the most frustrating goes something like this:
“Who knew that this non-traditional media / podcast space was so influential? Who knew we needed a candidate who was able to go into these spaces? We need to find someone confident and capable enough to do this. That should be our strategy moving forward.”
Oh really? You need a candidate with broad popular appeal, who polls better than Trump, who is willing and able to go into the podcast space? Someone who is comfortable enough with their beliefs and their ability to bring people along with them over the course of an hour long podcast? Someone who is able to bring people in from across the political spectrum? Someone who doesn’t really play the intersectional game, and has broad base appeal even to young men? Someone who values and wants to support the working class? Whoever could do that? Where on earth could we possibly find this person?
Sigh.

Joe Rogan previously endorsed Bernie for a reason.
Next time don’t stitch up your primary process to ensure the candidate is who you think should be the candidate for your own box ticking purposes and let people choose. The people have a clever knack of, oh, I don’t know, knowing what they want.
